The Mighty Ocean
(from Ben Gunn's Poem, 1886)
When approaching from the north,
He thinks he will not like it
But then he reaches the heart of the city.
Flowers everywhere
He sees so much beauty,
He thinks it the loveliest place upon earth.
And riding through the fields,
The vineyards, and the orchards
Luscious, yellow fruit hanging from the boughs.
Snow capped mountains in the distance behind,
And stretching out before him
Are the ever-dancing billows of the mighty ocean.
The ever dancing billows of the deep
The dark and deep blue ocean.
Then comes the sea breeze and the cool, cool night.
